Is Religion for the uneducated?

In 2005 the Washington Post correlated religion and spirituality with being “poor, undereducated, an easily led” (July 3, 2005) which is a prevalent conceptualization within non-believers groups who praise themselves on being scientific However, scientific discoveries have misspelled that myth and some others. For example, D. Hay and Morisy (1978) found that:

1_Women were only somewhat more likely than men have reported religious experiences

2_Older people were more likely to report religious experiences

3_Upper social classes and people with more education were more likely than others to report religious experiences

4_Those who reported a religious experience, their psychological well-being score was better than those who do not reported such experiences

These findings have been replicated in other countries with similar findings (McClenon, 2006)
